This is why there are no pure democracies. Mob rule is as inherently flawed as a dictatorship. The two systems used to modify democracies is a parliamentary system and a Constitutional Republic. Israel is no exception.
For all of Israel's flaws, however, in perhaps pulling in -- say -- overmuch theocratic elements into its decision making at least it is not emulating the purer blending of either monarchial rule or total theocracy rule of all to many Muslim nations. Now those truly suck.
