Yeah this is now an outdated reconstruction. Dunkle was revealed to hsve been smaller, around the size of a great white shark. And would have been more rounder.

Dunkleosteus. Again. Did they breach like this? I don't know, but it's a real cool depiction. | image tagged in dunkleosteus | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Weird, I was going to post a descriptive title about it being smoother and whatnot, but I hadn't gotten around to it. Forgot, I reckon, because I made a comment to that effect on a meme not too long ago. imgflip.com/i/8kft12

Still, size isn't indicated in the picture, and rounder? Is it a fish or a giant egg?
Smoother, if anything, unless there's something about the skin I haven't heard, and especially the head, which had skin covering the bony plates everyone is so fond of depicting them as nothing but.

The pic I posted now is from the same artist source, Robert Fabiani 5 on Artstation.

Dunkle was in fact smaller and rounder than previously believed.

You sure about that? | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Actually would have been smaller than a great white according to that new estimate, which itself is still an estimate. Using the blueprints of modern fishes for one from 360 years ago is
a tad risky . It was made by one scientist, so verification by others is needed. He did also use the bodies of smaller contemporaries with more complete remains than a skull, but the smaller the the animal, the larger the head tends to be in proportion.

Talking about great white sharks, look at Megalodon. It recently got a repoportioning too. Rather than being just one big gigantic great white shark, indication is that the body was more elongated and slimmer than previously believed.

Same goes for Josephoartigasia monesi, the biggest rodent known. The basis for the original estimate estimate of its size was its skull, as bones from the rest of body haven't been found. Then new resizing has to do with a joint to the neck, which is more stable proportionately across various sized mammals. So rather than being as big as a bison, Josephoartigasia was closer to a pony.
