What is your goal in making this meme? If your goal is to inspire people, I don't think it will work. Millions of people are stuck with jobs that do not give them any vacation time and where they have to work on weekends. And even if they could drive across the country, or even walk across the country, it wouldn't make them any better than those who walked across the country for the very first time, without GPS, without photos or videos of what the area looked like, without maps, and without compasses. All this meme will do is widen the gaps between generations by making young people think, "What's the point in trying to please my elders? Nothing I do will ever be as good as what they did."

You're thinking waaay too much into simple memes. It's about finding the time for adventure ... regardless of the excuses.

Youth already don't like their elders. It's like an unwritten law. Nobody likes their elders when they're young. I couldn't wait for the elders to die off so we could move forward. My mother and grandmother couldn't wait for their elders to die off either. Every generation is exactly the same in that regard. Youth never respects their elders...ever. Not in the history of instincts.

I had a full college curriculum, a full-time and a part time job, two sons (one deaf with undefined learning disabilities and Golden Harrs syndrome) I was raising without ANY help, living in housing with zero time or money but I managed to drive from San Diego to Boston to Bangor and DC ... route 66 all the way back through the petrified forest, meteor creator and the Grand Canyon.

Everyone has different priorities. I wanted my son's to see their country. It was important enough to me that I made it happen even when it was ... as impossible as it is for them today. (I made $5 an hour, not $15 or $20, with no benefits or vacation days. Don't try to convince me that it's harder today because it was hard as heck back then too). ✌️

The second paragraph of this comment disturbs me. Both my parents are still alive and I am not looking forward to the day they die at all. Just because you didn't like your elders doesn't mean that no one does.

I believe the third and fourth paragraphs, but not everyone else will. You must have had a really nice boss if that boss allowed you to take time off to drive cross-country for more than a week.

Elders are the old people in government.. not my parents. No need to be rude. I never had a nice boss. I had priorities. My kids were always my only priority. Everything I did I did for them. Every class I took and every penny I made I did to better life for my boys. Jobs are a dime a dozen. Time with your children and having the chance to show them the world is fleeting.
