To be fair, this kind of thing does happen in both sides. One side makes a critique of the other (usually in bad faith, but sometimes there is valid criticism), then next thing you know it’s like someone made a declaration of war, and the extremists on both sides (I hesitate to use the terms “woke” and “anti-woke” given they’ve been reduced to pretty much “people I don’t like”, but you know what I mean by extremists) are up in arms, right up until the next thing happens and just like that, the previous thing never happened. And while it is generally good advice to move on from controversy, to merely forget past transgressions is unproductive, in my mind.
And yes, you shouldn’t be harassed for what you say, no one should. If someone believes what you’re saying is BS, then they have every right to call you out on such, just as you have every right to call out their BS. But threats and dehumanizing the other side is something I cannot condone, no matter who does it.
