Being a furry on its own is okay, but the reason for being one is what makes it a good thing or a bad thing.

Zoophiles pretend to be furries to try getting unwanted support from others, along with pedos, neither of which are welcome in the community.

I despise these kinds of people.

Me on the other hand is in the fandom because I have a bad childhood and want to fit in with those who had bad ones too, so we can talk it out with each other for comforting and so we aren't alone. That and because I want to be different, I want to enjoy life, not live the same boring life over and over again. I'm here for the support, the love and most importantly the friends.

Those positive qualities you mention can be found in a lot of other fandoms, ones that don't have pedos/zoophile
activity. The one thing you're not really going to escape is porn, every fandom has r34.
