Batista wasn't exactly a fascist. His regime was extremely corrupt. They stole a lot of money. Some Cubans did well, others did not. Batista was repressive, but nothing like Fidel Castro. Cuba has rich farmland but because of economic inefficiencies, can't feed its population. You must ask yourself, why has the US isolated Cuba? That I don't fully understand. Political pressure from Cuban-Americans? I'm not sure Cuba wants relations with the US.
