Rodney on the Roq, Jed the Fish, Freddy Snakeskin, Richard Blade, Poorman and Swedish Egil. They were my favorite radio station in the 80's.
Too bad all of your NYC radio stations sucked and blew at the same time. Not because they played awful music or had awful DJs, but because you had to actually be in NYC to hear any of those stations and that what made them suck and blow at the same time.
There probably where/are multiple schools with a heavy Jewish population in So. Cal, but I only know of my elementary and Jr High schools.
Man! I feel so sorry for you having to grow up in NYC. Let's see.... you got Broadway show and restaurants that stay open all night. After that, what else is there? Nothing. Just crazy people wandering down the streets and people yelling at each other. And ever since NYC has gone uber liberal the crime rate is back up as high as it was in the 70's.
As much as LA sucks, it is vastly superior to NYC. Vastly. Just the weather alone is enough but there is so much more. Maybe when you can get enough courage to go on vacation, fly (don't drive) to LA. I want you to keep calling us "fly over" country because we don't want liberal New Yorkers ruining the place. And don't worry, there are plenty of liberals in LA to make you feel right at home.
There is a subway in LA but I would never ever take it. I've lived through enough earthquakes to know the last place I would want to be is underground. So you'll have to drive or take a bus to get around. Don't do taxis unless you're rich because LA is spread out. Over 50 miles in just about every direction. Not all of it is LA but it is always referred to as LA. Like if you're from Tustin, down in Orange County, and you're in NYC, you're not going to tell anyone your from Tustin. You'll just say LA. The actual city of Los Angeles is not very big in size. And you'll want to go to Orange County. Disneyland is in Orange County. The best beaches in the LA area are in Orange County.
Visiting Hollywood is pretty much a waste of time. Hollywood is not an actual city. It is just a section of Los Angeles. Hollywood Blvd has the walk of fame but after that there's nothing but stupid tourist stores. Mann's Chinese Theater is on Hollywood Blvd and they have hand and foot prints of some of the old time movie actors. So there there's that.
