It wasn't normal to allow black people to ride the front of the bus, it wasnt normal for fathers to be in the delivery room for the births of their children, it wasnt normal for women to vote. Those became the norm did they not.

It was normal to allow blacks to sit in the front of the bus- everywhere except in the Democrat-run South. Fathers in the delivery room was an old wives tale turned into policy- again not everywhere. No it wasn't normal for women to vote and they still shouldn't.

Anglo* run South.

It was quite normal in the Democrat-run North. And it was the Democrat-run North it had to impose this norm on the Anglo-run South in the 1960s.

It wasn't normal for anyone to vote, and when the Founding Fathers reluctantly allowed for the right, initially it was only supposed to be reserved for monied upper class land-owning Protestant British and Germanic men.

That's because normal is a measure of quantity, not quality.

Enough people believe there should be separate fountains or women shouldn't have bodily autonomy, it will become normal but it will never become good.
