Roughly on-third to one-half of Republicans have said they would prefer someone besides Trump as their candidate. If 10% of Republicans sit out the election, the number should be higher than that if Trump is the nominee and loses the two court cases he is on track to lose between now and November, he will lose to Biden by a landslide.

Most of the money the GOP has raised so far has gone into paying Trump's lawyer fees. Democrats are sitting on $130-million and will likely have multiple times that amount by late Summer, when all the political ads will appear. If the Democrats have more "green," to buy ads there could be a major "Blue Wave," in November.

The only thing that could make this worse for Trump and the GOP is if Haley chooses to run as an Independent or on the "No Labels," ticket.

The Houston Chronicle has the third largest Sunday circulation in the country, trailing only the New York Times and LA Times. Its editorial board is generally more conservative than those two papers. It endorsed Romney over Obama in 2012. It gas never endorsed Trump, choosing Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020 and 2024.
