My advice to people is don't become a freelancer, people become freelancers because they think it will allow them to "be their own boss" and be allowed to only do work when they feel like it but in reality, freelancers only get work on a per gig basis and a gig is really not a guarantee and when freelancers do get work, the clients refuse to pay, making a bunch of shitty excuses like "I don't have the money" or "you didn't do a proper job" even the freelancer spent hours of thankless work, doing a proper job to the client's liking. Minimum wage workers complain about being in a dead-end job but at least they have a job at all and always get paid for their work for they are protected by government enforced labor rights laws. Minimum wage workers complain about the government not raising the minimum wage, their boss not giving a raise and customers being rude to them and refusing to tip but maybe they shouldn't complain so much and be grateful they don't have to argue with assholes who refuse to pay them after hours of thankless work. I don't think minimum wage workers have nothing to complain about but they also should know that things could be worse for them and they are lucky to be paid at all. I wouldn't even recommend freelancing as a side hustle.
