To make matters worse, Valentines Day is just a big fat-a** reminder of every time a girl has hurt me in the past. See, I always get *this close* to having relationships, but then I screw it up, which results in rejection and heartbreak. Here's an example.
In eighth grade, I had a crush on one of my classmates, and for a while, she had a crush on me too. She got me this pop-it that was shaped like a cartoon deer a week or so before Valentines Day that year. The next few days go fine and we get closer to each other relationship-wise. February 13th rolls around and I make a stupid decision to introduce her to my best friend.
I'll give you three guesses what happened next.
Now that pop-it is all I have to remember her by, and I fidget with it almost daily. I love that pop-it because I loved her and I don't want to lose the memory of that love. But today I just couldn't handle it. I was about to lose it, and I could swear it still smelled like her. I had to leave the pop-it with my friend to keep myself from going over the edge.
