Much less the fact that many historians (not all) conclude that slaves automatically gaining Mexican Citizenship if they escaped Texas into Mexico was a threat to Texas some say led to the Texas Revolution. Thats a different issue, but I thought it notable to mention. Slavery was a big thing for the Texas economy back then.
