Was it kindness when FDR turned back all those Jews everyone knew was fleeing for their lives? Was it kindness when FDR put countless numbers of Japanese Americans into camps?

FDR's rejection of refugee Jews and the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II were abominable.

But there is a qualitative, categorical difference between two instances of hardheartedness (in an adminstration famous for its domestic kindness), and the blanket normalization of cruelty in Trump's administration.
