Not reparations, full restoration. That is probably most fair.

Reparations should only be paid to the actual slave, and money should come from the actual owner of the slave. Descendants deserve Jack shit

Do you recognize sarcasm and satire? Just saying.

That's such a sweet story. My great great grandfather was conscripted by the Confederacy and deserted to the Union side, an automatic death sentence if he was caught by the Rebs. He fought on the Union side until the last month of the war. He lost a leg, he lost his farm and livelihood and he and his family lived the rest of his life in pain and poverty. Where were his reparations? Did I earn them? Hell no. Should a doctor like Ben Carson get reparations? Eddie Murphy? OJ Simpson?
My ancestors also brought family- they worked for 14 years to pay back their debt. Many slaves were taught a trade and bought their way out of slavery. It wasn't all screamin' and bullwhips cracking
How long? How long?
Many slaves stayed at the plantations where they were slaves after the war because they were treated well. Not all, but many did. Don't you know that blacks owned black slaves too? The first court case on slavery in the US was a black slave owner who refused to release an indentured black slave because he said the slave was lazy and didn't work enough to earn his freedom. The court ordered that slave to be a slave for the rest of his life. Bottom line is there is no one size fits all in history.
Have I done a damn thing to deserve reparations? Has anyone 159 years later done anything that deserves reparations? Did I do anything to cause slavery or did my ancestors do anything to benefit from slavery? Fact- 385,000 southern Democrats owned slaves in the 1860 census. One Union soldier died for 12 slaves to have freedom. How is it that the entire United States is responsible for slavery in some people's minds?
If slavery is such an evil, why is no one marching to free slaves held today by Islamic extremists? Why is no one protesting and demanding boycotts against China and their use of Uyghur slaves to make Nike shoes and Apple telephones, not to mention being subjected to vivisection and harvesting of their organs for sale on the world market? Why is no one protesting the use of slave labor in communist countries today? They just want to destroy the United States no matter what the cost. They don't want to heal, they prosper on division. Most of my friends are what some elitist snobs call "people of color." To me they are just my friends. To them they are just typical Americans. Race baiters get fabulously wealthy, Frederick Douglas had nothing good to say about race baiters 150 years ago.

You not only didn't read, you don't comprehend. Conscription is the "draft" and has nothing to do with indentured servitude. As for your kind comments regarding leaded gas, that explais why you can't write concisely- you said you weren't doing this for internet points. Whatever, you aren't going to read this so why should I try to help you write with clarity.
You know nothing of the motives why my great great grandfather defected. He lived in Kentucky, opposed slavery, owned no slaves, Dred Scott offended his sense of justice, like many southerners who were born in the south but did not own or support slavery. How do I know? I have his letters. My family all became Republicans after Dred Scott (1857), a tradition that continues to today, and not the RINO version. His name? Captain John Mitchell. Good luck, there were quite a few Mitchells to look through. Since you aren't really reading this, I won't write anything about my familiy stand and activity for Civil Rights.
I won't make any disparaging remarks about French arrogance and aloofness, or capacity to surrender, nor anything regarding Vichy type mentalities. Only because I'm under the influence of leaded gasoline.

You can't read anything. Yes my ancestors were indentured servants. My great great grandfather was drafted by the Confederacy, if you really knew history you would know they were conscripted (North and South). Two entirely different subjects. As for telling you who my great great grandfather was, take a flying ... Do you want my social security number too? Maybe my first born son? How about the first litter of puppies from my beagle?
And no, neither my first born son or my beagle were indentured servants, slaves or conscripted.
Feel free to wallow in your French Pride and think of those glorious Revolution days where they murdered each other.

Oh, Stereotyped. Like right wing hog, bullshitting because you don't know about anyone who deserted the Confederacy, having never read Shelby Foote or others regarding the Civil War. You'll find the references to those noble men who stood on prinicple rather than residency. Or dotard. How about if I sterotype you as a bigot? Asking for a friend. If I liked you, I would arrange a PM and email you copies of the packet of letters I have, but you have not given me a single reason to like you.
You already know everything, what more could I possibly tell you?

You call me names because you are an arrogant prick. Be honest. Keep puking your self congratulatory blathering. You'll sure feel sooo good about yourself.

Pot calling the kettle black.

And for once you are right on the money I am arrogant…but I’d rather arrogant then ignorant of my own history.

In fact I’m growing more and more suspicious of your ancestors story. If he truly despised the south and joined the republicans as you claim he did shouldn’t referencing a southern lost cause apologist as someone who knows true history leave a sour taste in your mouth?
I mean calling lee noble must have made him roll in his grave.

Should you not be disgusted with the modern Republican party’s inability to help advocate for the better treatment of others as their predecessors did? Much like I am appalled by the Democratic Party nefarious origins and their shallow failures in advocating for better government for all that is only marginally better then their rivals?

Such a humorless life you lead. If it's shit why do you give me imgflip points with all your ignorant comments and views? Pass on by and let my shit "die on the vine" so to speak. You know how this works, right? If a meme gets no views, no upvotes and no comments it goes into the 8,976th page and dies an agonizing unnoticed death of obscurity. As it is, people like you have put me in the the top 130 or so on imgflip. Thanks for your patronage!

Uh no, Read it again. When you look at my shit and comment on it, I get points. Thanks for giving me one more point. And as for your history? I have studied history for 60 years, even lived a bunch of it. You are #$cked up with what you think is history. Way f'd up. Change your sources, or at least add to them.
