I might have some respect for that. First Order Stormtroopers were more consistently dangerous because they were trying to give Fett Clones a run for their money.
From what I understand, a lot of Imperial Storm Troopers from the Original Trilogy era were actually semi competent and reasonably feared soldiers. They were specialized shock troops in the infantry and marines. They weren't meant to be cannon fodder.
From what I understand, the books don't make the average Stormies out to be better than FO Stormies, let alone Fett Clones, but they were, albeit inconsistently, more competent than the movies would have you believe.
Based on what I've heard in lore videos, it's just that they were inconsistently trained, sometimes poorly utilized concerning strategy, often spread thin, and didn't always have the best morale.
This was especially true when you factor in that after the Death Star Exploded, the Empire tried to do damage control by conscripting a bunch of people and giving them rushed training. It didn't help that some of the Imperial Officers were more politician and business men than devoted military, and were too busy competing instead of cooperating. Supposedly they thought a military career would solidify their family's nobility status or something.
It also doesn't help that the Flash Memory Clones, the cheap clones made to hold over the core as it (mostly) weaned itself off of Fett Clone dependency and transitioned to (mostly) birth born recruits and conscripts, were basically B1 Battle Droids in stormtrooper armor that were prone to losing their minds.
Somebody get these Flash Clones a philosophy book and a shrink to help them with their existential crisis.
