The. USA has invaded numerous countries since the end of the Civil War to protect special interests, prop up or overthrow one dictator and install another who might turn out to be worse.

That’s what I said WWI. But the process began in the Civil War, including the 1880’s annexation of Hawaii, and then various invasions of Latin American countries leading to WWI. I chose WWI because our intervention led directly to the rise of Hitler.
