There were what I call 'Proto-Democrats'. These were the people that threatened to pull out of the brand new USA as the Constitution was being written up because there was serious talks about ending slavery once and for all. For the Founders and whose worked hard on the Constitution the words 'All Men Are Created Equal' were as 100% literal as it can get for humans.

These proto-democrats threatened call it quits right then and there if slavery was gotten rid of. Would the country have ended right then and there if anti-slavery group went ahead anyway? I don't know. Would things have been better in the long run if the anti-slavery group ended the pro-slavery group right then and there? Probably.

That is another example of why Dems hate history and want to cover it over. You still see the same old tired tricks as when they lie "the Civil war was about slavery" and worse yet Dems and Republicans changed places politically. Ask one if they realize Lincoln didn't free anyone and the North had slaves too and their little heads will explode. It is getting harder to keep up with their lies there are just so many.

Also tell them NYC was one of the, if not number one, major port for unloading slaves onto US land. Another thing to make their heads explode - the ending of the slavery was through amendment. If it was the 3/4 state vote as the final decider then it means the 'government overreach' fall flat.

Another thing about proto-democrats and certain types of people in the NE states like Massachusetts is that quite a few of them weren't the freedom lovers that Washington, Franklin, and the rest of them were. Those other people were in it only to protect their own wealth and self interests. Out loud they talked the talked but inwardly they didn't care which side won as long as their wealth and property was intact. Those type of people should've been shipped back to England or wherever along with the Redcoat army.
