Back before I retired, I worked for a research facility that made a lot of prototypes. I was one of those people who travelled for a living and actually had to use those prototypes in the field. We used to refer to the laboratory where the prototypes are made as ACME because what works well in the laboratory doesn't always work the same way in the field.
