I believe their study is flawed.

The average person will assist an animal before a human.

Skid to a stop when a squirrel crosses the road but blow by a homeless guy on a bicycle while shouting "get the "f" outta the road" as they speed by.

Put out food every day for feral animals but won't give a human a sandwich.

Adopt a pet and take it into their home but won't offer a human an opportunity to bathe and a warm place to sleep for even a night.

Okay, can't really blame them on the last one...you might get robbed or killed.

Desensitization perhaps, but dehumanization I disagree.

Read the study. It concluded that most people their humanity to be superior to others. People who veer on the highway to avoid hitting an animal probably feel superior to those who do not. I chose the images of a non-human primate because I thought they would make some people question their own standards of behavior.

If this is about interpersonal relationships, I don't need to read a study to know that people strive to be and/or feel superior to others.

One just need look around to see that those with even the most trivial amount of "authority" will beat others over the head with it.

The mall security officer, the bus driver, the teacher, the boss at work, your elected representatives, etc.

The first study, from 1963 was done to identify how people under the stress of being required to cause pain would react. The second study completed this year concerned people's senses of self worth when presented with the pain causer scenario. Basically, the researchers concluded that people tend to exaggerate the purity of their motives. That is why you will probably never meet a bigoted person who sees themself as such. Legendary Racist, George Wallace, whose motto was "Segregation Now! Segregation Forever!" was shot and paralyzed by a would-be assassin. Afteryears of having to rely on others for his basic needs, including bowel care, he learned to value others. Late in his life he declared his lifelong racism to be wrong. But this is rare.

Why do you insist on continuing to school me on things I already know?

If you just gave to express yourself to someone, I understand.

Just need to get it off your chest, okay.

People want to be superior to others and will cause them pain moreso than people they like.

It is no dehumanization but desensitization in my opinion.

I know I am torturing a human but I do not care because I do not like them and am not sensitive to the anguish of the human I am causing pain.

I am not torturing you because I find you less human, I am torturing you because you are a despicable human.

Kinda like a doctor performing a major surgery.

The First Amendment protects extreme language, including racist, Nazi or traitorous messages. It also protects the rights of others to point out the nature of these comments. For the record "Socialism," is the control of all means of production of goods and services by the people. Private Capitalists control the most of our economy. Enen "Obamacare" relies on privately held insurance companies to provide most of the coverage available through its exchange. In fact, it created a previously untapped market for these companies. This is hardly Socialism.

Obamacare forced people to buy a product they did not want, or be fined. That ain't capitalism. I don't know what that is.

Actually, yes I do ..Obama enriching himself.

You are ignoring much in your free speech address. You know the whiny wheel "words are violence" cabal gets others timed out.

Most states fine people for driving cars without insurance. because events can result in one person causing financial losses to another. Requiring people, who can afford it, to insure their bodies so the rest o us don't have to pay if they require expensive healthcare, has a historical precedent.

Raping and pillaging also has much historical precedent...so why not advocate that?

The U.S. Supreme Court first defined, in Chaplinsky v New Hampshire (1942), words which "by their very utterance, inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace. It has been well observed that such utterances are no essential part of any exposition of ideas and are of such slight social value as a step to truth that any benefit that may be derived from them is clearly outweighed by the social interest in order and morality."

Over the years, the Court has narrowed down the definition to words causing a "Clear and Present Danger." None-the-less precedent exists in law.

You are only stating what I already know.

They play weakling to get "protected" while simultaneously spewing whatever hate filled garbage they wish.

It will end.

Remind me. When did Biden refer to Trump voters as "vermin?" Trump used his Thanksgiving message to call all Democrats vermin.
