I spent nearly 10 years in the food service industry, until i got my degree. And yet, restaurants I've applied to for part time income have been dismissing me immediately.

2. I tried enlistement after HS. I was DQ'd for being colorblind, which is why I went to college. Otherwise, I would have been a career Navy engineer like my grandfather.
3. I'm too old to enlist (also colorblind. See #2)

I didnt have the heart to say i was 2 days late for CONBAT PHOTOG!! It was a cool feeling having the Army tell you they got the job you asked for.....ASVAB scores speak for themselves.....and telling them the Air Force already signed you.

Let's do a timeline!

1999; started 1st p/t summer job at Wendy's at 14yrs old
2000; started 2nd p/t job at local deli
2001; started 3rd p/t job at local chain restaurant, helping out once a week at deli.
2003; graduated HS. Applied for enlistment. DQ'd at MEPS. Took up offer at local college as contingency.
2004-06; worked in various restaurants as a cook all throughout college
2007; graduated from said college, entered work force as HS teacher, continued working restaurants on weekends
2012; payed off my student loans!
2014; left teaching to work in restaurant for more take-home pay
2018; moved to a new state. Went back to teaching.
2020: PANDEMIC!! School closed, and moved home. Took a job in a warehouse making more than I did as a teacher.
