What's wrong with Fortnite? Everyone's coming back now because Season 5 is back, now Season 6. Besides, it looks like the community's healed.

now they have zero build, among us clone (kinda meh, but still entertaining for a round or two with the boys), general balancing fixes, an improved UI, and loads of new gameplay mechanics like sprinting, parkour, and overshield

Mf, the “all you do is shoot” is literally every other battle royale. Every single battle royale besides Minecraft ones can be summed up with “all you do is shoot and kill.” Building was actually a cool mechanic for once, and it has a high skill ceiling which is why most people didn’t like it. Fortnite’s also got unregulated servers (again, like most battle royales) so this problem was more prevalent. The second they made a mode without building, everyone suddenly loved the game. It’s not the game that’s bad, the mechanics were cool asf. It’s the fact that everyone hated that people who were able to build five star hotels on people in two seconds going against people who barely knew how to build in public lobbies. Apex Legends currently has the same problem with their player base. Their servers are more regulated but the moment you get one win, you get sent to lobbies against the best people in the game.

CoD Warzone (and most CoD battle royales), PubG, and Rules of Survival are almost exact clones of each other. I’m not joking. If fortnite wasn’t creative, then how is that list of games creative? The only others that deviate from the standard experience with battle royales are hero shooters like Apex Legends, where character based abilities make the game slightly more interesting. However, they don’t change much other than weird escapes out of bad situations and the weapons are from Titanfall. As an Apex Legends player, Fortnite is so much more creative. It’s so creative that every game tried to copy it besides the building aspect, and you think I’m joking. Fortnite is one of the first games where it had a battle pass (we all hate Epic for this one). Since then, most other games have started incorporating similar passes instead of regular progression rewards because of how popular Fortnite’s was. Fortnite also had a ton of emotes. Many games had these already, but they were severely limited. Roblox actually updated to add buyable dances after the success of Fortnite’s buyable dances. Also, the ever changing map was a nice touch too, and definitely made for great content. Most battle royales wouldn’t even think about that. You can dislike fortnite all you want though.

Not really. It’s just your average hero shooter. Many of these abilities already exist in different games and are comparable to Overwatch. The ability to carry an extra weapon, carry a giant mini gun unhindered, and an extra sniper rifle aren’t really creative tbh. That’s just an extra side arm, heavy from Team Fortress 2, and the average hunting simulator.

Oh, you mean Fortnite Save the World, the zombie shooter? What the game was actually intended to be? Tbh I’ve lost the narrative for Fortnite since I’ve last played it, but the whole universe being restarted over and over is cool, and the fact that they have a different story each season is nice. Apex does have a story, which is more than most battle royales are willing to give. However, mechanics wise, Fortnite is more creative. Building in battle royales hasn’t been a thing except for Minecraft UHC and a few small ones. It’s pretty creative for being the first mainline battle royale to have it. Fortnite Battle Royale does have a story and lore behind it that may not entirely be clear but connects it to its other game. Apex puts it right in front of your face. The way the story is presented is different, though I will say Apex has more story behind it. However, when it comes to gameplay and mechanics, I’m pretty sure the building aspect was pretty creative for fortnite in it’s prime. Both these games have an amazing amount of effort put into them, I never said either game was bad.

I think you’re just stuck on the internet bandwagon on hating the game. I’m not saying go try to play it, but I am saying that the argument for fortnite not being creative was stupid. All of the arguments you have listed apply to most other games more than they apply to Fortnite, with the exception that the battle royale was used to promote Fortnite Save the World. It was smart of Epic to do that though.

Well yeah cause Fortnite is in decline again. All games die in the end. Now, about those arguments you made about fortnite. I could make the same arguments with Minecraft. “All you do it’s shoot and kill monsters and build” right? Minecraft also “doesn’t have a story” besides being a blocky sandbox game (is this sounding familiar?). Therefore, by your standards Minecraft is bad, just like Fortnite. :)

Minecraft would always outclass Fortnite in popularity, it wouldn’t even be close. Minecraft sold more copies than Fortnite. However, when Fortnite was in its prime, Minecraft was on life support with only mob and biome votes keeping it alive. Now it’s much more popular again, just like fortnite after they brought the old map back. So, take that as you will. And have you looked up how many people actually log in to minecraft now or did you just look at sales of minecraft?
