I actually paid $23.35 for such a meal the last time I was at Five Guys, not even in a small town but the downtown core of a major city.

That's even better

Quite right, people shouldn't be whining about the price of Five Guys, their food is a lot better quality than most fast food chains and much more generous portions. If there is any fast food chain worth complaining about being overpriced, it's McDonald's. Not just the price but also the shitty quality of the food and the fact that the portions keep getting smaller. McDonald's beef patties are overly processed, mass-produced frozen shit and are very thin patties whereas Five Guys patties are made on-site of fresh ground beef and the patties are quite thick and juicy. McDonald's burgers are barely the size of your hand and while Five Guys burgers are quite big. McDonald's fries are also overly processed, mass-produced shit and what McDonald's considers a "medium" fry box really looks more like a small fries while Five Guys fries are freshly cut from fresh potatoes on the site and the don't merely fill the fry cup, they deliberately over fill the cup putting an extra scoop in the bag. The grilled onions and mushrooms are also fresh and grilled on the spot and you don't have to pay extra, McDonald's onions I recall are freeze-dried and they also don't have mushrooms at all, they did have mushrooms one time but that was only for the limited-time mushroom swiss burger. Anyone who complains about Five Guys being "expensive" should shut up and realize that mcdonald's is actually something worth complaining about being overpriced for its shitty quality and shrinking portions.

what you said about McDonalds is right, but they still have some good food.

Good? Well unfortunately such overly processed shit, portions that have definitely shrunk over the years and a rip off price for such food really makes one's definition of "good" questionable if that what one calls "good". I also find that the taste of mcdonald's have become rather lackluster, probably not as good as it used to be. I find it rather lackluster in taste compared to a Five Guys burger, I also like Burger King better than mcdonald's even though Burger King is also nothing compared to Five Guys, I even find that Burger King is better value than McDonald's.

I just eat a quarter-pounder with a large fry. That's really the only good item on the menu for me.

There’s a Five Guys about a mile from my house. I don’t go there often, but I do like their food.
I’ll admit I don’t do it right… when I get it to go, I get the little hamburgers plain and don’t get the fries. I’d put some ketchup and mustard on at home. I love the fries and the generous portion, but I would eat them all and likely get fat. When I used to eat it there, they used to have barrels of peanuts, which I loved. When I go to pick up my order, they yell “Rick’s here!” Which is kinda funny.
I might have to hit them over the weekend :-)
