I believe everyone should have acces to the original hebrew greek and aramaic scrolls so they can see the interpretation of the translator.

I'm actually learning Hebrew so I can read those and Aramaic and Greek are next. I also plan on learning Arabic, Ethiopian, Latin, Syriac, and Armenian so I can read other manuscripts of the Bible, as well as apocryphal works.

There are some versions that have truly had the true context altered but not all have. Original Greek and Hebrew word studies are helpful as is the Strong's concordance. KJV isn't perfect when it translates some verb tenses especially pertaining to Hebrews when speaking about true apostasy but as a whole is pretty accurate and by my own examination, comparison with KJV the NKJV is also accurate and my personal favorite since it still sounds like the Bible in some less common language that isn't used so much nowadays but minus old English that I can understand but it's easier since old English has been spoken for centuries. I've seen some scary stuff in NIV and others unfortunately and I recommend literally throwing away The Message as it is worded terribly with a new age Marxist kind of wording and blatant added words that change meaning. Go to God yourselves first and ask Him what to read and to show you any problems. He will. Exercise James 1:5 and let Him be the final word and He won't let you be deceived!
