I’ve never played Baldur’s Gate 3. So I can’t say. But I have heard of the raised standards argument.
I think modern gaming is a lost cause (with VERY few exceptions). That’s why I never play new games. Most games I own are either remakes or are games from before 2017.

Yeah, because if that's gonna be the new standard, game companies are gonna die out, especially indie game devs
AAA companies SHOULD be making better games, and they have all the resources to make them.
Nobody is saying that every single game needs to be like Baldur’s Gate 3. They’re saying AAA devs need to put as much effort into it and not copy paste the same formula all the time.
And also optimization + get rid of microtransactions

Yeah, I agree with that, regardless of how long it takes (although, not TOO long.)
Look at RobTop for example. He took 6 years for the next update and most of the time it was for removing bugs, ensuring quality for when it releases
The nice thing about old games is they’re way cheaper (especially on sale) and they’re more complete than when they were new. I’ve only played 3 games that came out this year. And only one of them is AAA.

Geometry Dash's price never changed.
Remained $4 all 10 years
if I am planning on making a game, I'll probably put it at like $20, if it's big enough to be worth that much
I looked it up and Geometry Dash goes on sale for $2.
Not saying $4 is too much, but the sales do exist. And those extra $2 could even buy another game.

ah, I never really saw it on sale, but makes sense
What I love about sales as well is when Half Life 2's episodes goes on sale, it can drop down from $8 down to 79 cents
Memory tokens, kocos, and purple coins don’t count because you can find them anywhere and you can find an infinite amount of them.
I’m talking about those little trinkets that are scattered around the map and there’s 6 of them you have to find for this one person who lost all of them.
potentially, because apparently sonic team is getting a higher budget and more dev time from now on.
i just hope the open world doesn't become overused
THE NICE THING ABOUT SONIC FRONTIERS
IS THAT IT’S AN OPEN WORLD, BUT
THE ENTIRE GAME HAS ONE OBJECTIVE. THERE AREN’T ANY SIDE QUESTS OR SETS OF COLLECTIBLES TO PAD OUT THE
RUNTIME. IT’S STRAIGHT TO THE POINT.
