The Liberty did not sink.

It was 1967.

Israel was at war.

The US sent the surveillance ship, USS Liberty, an outfitted, converted merchant vessel to "monitor" radio communications.

The ship was attacked by Israeli air and naval craft reportedly having misidentified the Liberty as an enemy vessel.

Israel apologized and paid reparations.

Neither did Israel.
