Its impossible to wipe out religion but it is possible to wipe out society (assuming we're using the dictionary definition of society)
Religion can never die because its in our intrinsic nature to be religious, the lord designed us that way, only he gave us the free will to replace our religiousness to the lord with the religiousness of social activism, gluttony, television shows, satan or political parties etc

Ultimately cities can turn to dust and nations can collapse, but people will still have their religion...and some of those will follow the lords
