Let's not forget that in Australia, they have been discussing about having nuclear waste facilities in Central Australia but it was overturned.
Think about it. You'd first have to get approval from the Indigenous Australians, to which whether they'd support it or not, there would be so many other barriers to deal with the nuclear waste. You'd need a truck to transfer the nuclear waste to the nearest facility, to which the facilities may not even properly recycle the nuclear energy.
I'd say that it is easier to regulate recycling of windmills and solar panels than nuclear energy.
