Negative. The idea that a joke isn't funny if it needs to be explained, is deeply flawed. If someone's dumb ass is to dense to get a joke, that's on them. The humorousness of a joke is NOT a function of its audience. (A joke not landing means it's not funny TO THAT AUDIENCE, but that's not the joke's fault.)
I think that as long as someone anywhere might find a joke funny (with or without it being explained to them), then that joke is funny. Which, when you think about it, means EVERY joke is funny. Most of the time I'm the only one who finds my antics humorous, and while that in itself is more than enough, I also think people trying to tell me that something isn't funny just because THEY don't think it's funny, is pretty hilarious too.
