Why do I keep hearing reports saying no one will test the soil or water?

I don't know why you keep hearing that. Do you go to the source, the EPA, and see if they've released tests?

What efforts have you made to verify that information?

From context, I bet that number is 0.

I saw interviews with angry residents who said no one was testing the soil and water. Would the EPA release that information? Are you defending the government or corporations, or are they the same?

How do you know those angry residents did any search for information at all? If they're like my family that lives in rural Illinois, they're pissed off that someone hasn't come directly to their door to give them specifically tailored information rather than going to the EPA's website.

And the EPA does release this information, it's part of their job.

With all the endless dark money in politics, it gets hard to tell them apart. And the government/lobbyist revolving door.

Why did they burn off the chemicals? As I understand it the reason was to open the tracks sooner. Was there any change in railroad regulations? I have not heard of any.

Why did they? That's a good question. As I recall, it was done at the recommendation of the company and other experts. The manufacturer of the chemicals has since said they were not consulted in the decision, and would not have recommended it.
