Let's test how educated and rational we are...
I disagree that one needs to be educated to accept that others gave differing opinions than oneself.
You may argue rationale is required and I would not disagree.
However, education, or lack thereof, is not a requirement of tolerance.
If it was, we would have killed each other to extinction thousands of years ago.
People that rely on their opinions, especially groupthink opinions, to validate themselves are filled with animosity when encountering others unaccepting of their opinions.
The "opposition" has done more then just benignly disagree. They have unwittingly ripped the fabric of the soul. They have, however briefly, made you question your shouted from the rooftops, popular, validating beliefs.
The wounded ego "injured party" starts crying out for protection from words, clamoring for censorship, banning, claiming harassment, bigotry, phobic, hatred, degrading, in the hopes of the "offender" being silenced and chased off.
Success restores their feelings of validity. But not entirely. They remain bitter and resentful furthering their spiral down into irrationality.
It is much the same experience as trying to reason and have a dialogue with the mentally ill.
These are often intelligent, educated people relying who rely on this self created victimization tactic while remaining blind to the insulting, derisive, sarcastic, irrational comments issuing from themselves.
Kinda like religion...Exactly like religion.
If they were rational they would have the ability to shrug it off.
