It took me years to find a lot of people who were interested in rock, as places where I was from, grew up and worked weren't too fond of it, so even listening to it was frowned upon.

When you combine that with "trend culture," and more people are attracted to what's popular, they're not going to like something that's not popular.

On top of all that, there's a lot of folks into rock and metal who are just really chill people who wouldn't make such a big deal out of such an occasion, likely prefer to sit back and relax to more music than to get in anyone's face to celebrate.

Those of us rockers out there are still enjoying it, but for one reason or another, we're enjoying it in our hearts instead of out loud.

That's the trouble with hip-hop fans - they've been too eager to get in people's face to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop. It's all I've been hearing lately.
