Honestly I’m so sick of all the “tastes just like meat” stuff. If I wanted to eat meat, I wouldn’t have become vegetarian. Companies need to stop this stupid thing of making it out that their products are “like meat but good for you and the environment” because it’s ridiculous.
1. They taste nothing like meat, and they aren’t ever going to
2. It’s still a processed food and health-wise you’d be better off with a fresh chicken breast
3. In order to make “meat substitutes” they take up ridiculous amounts of land with one crop.
I’m not saying that I think the meat industry is better, nor am I saying that the meat substitute industry is better. I think both of them are equally harmful in their own current forms, and I have many of the same concerns about both of them. From all sane vegans and vegetarians: give us some, you know, vegetables, and get on with your life.
Sorry, you probably didn’t want a vegetarian ranting in your comments but these advertisements annoy me no end.

Matrix Morpheus Meme | WHAT IF I TOLD YOU BURGER KING'S PLANT-BASED PATTY IS COOKED ON THE SAME GRILL AS MEATS | image tagged in memes, matrix morpheus | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Not the OP, but I welcome the perspective. I have never believed that stuff could possibly appeal to vegetarians or vegans.

BK's plant burger is aimed at people who aren't full vegetarian but want to cut back on red meat.

Plausible, I suppose, but BK also has chicken and fish. Some vegetarians (called pescetarians) may consume fish. In any event, I am personally not interested in faux or ersatz meat.

Agreed. Me neither, however my teenage daughter dabbled a short while ago with Pescetarianism and I still have a bunch of plant based products we bought for her she now refuses to eat and I'm slowly going through them all so they don't get wasted. Some are terrible and nothing like meat, some OK when used as something like a burger in a bun and smothered in the usual sauces, cheese and salad items. Definitely not something I'd usually try but bearable if needs must and you're the one who spent all the money on it.

If plants are so good then why are they making it taste like meat

Plant based meat is the nicotine patch of the fast food industry. If used right, they can help psychologically to transition traditional meat eaters to consume less meat rather than just to fully replace meat. Used wrong, they taste horrible and are just moneymaking schemes that give the whole concept a bad name.

Yes that makes sense
