*Ivy, Sumac, and Maple eventually fall asleep as well, leaving Rose as the last one awake. She looks like she’s on the verge of sleeping, but she’s also just pretending*

“Yes, this is my chance,” Hoverfly thought. She quickly removed her blindfold as quietly as she could. She carefully climbed off the leafwing’s back. She started sneaking toward’s the entrance they had came from. With luck, it would take her back to her hive. She carefully stepped over the hybrid’s tail. Now she was close, she could almost taste the freedom, but suddenly the vine by the door began to grow and block the entrance. When she turned around, the huge leafwing was there. She couldn’t have been more terrified. Hoverfly told herself to move, but she couldn’t. Her heart began to race and her breathing became quicker. She started to shiver, as she braced herself for the inevitable strike that would come next. But then the leafwing just lied down, not attacking, but also blocking the other escape routes. She was more afraid than ever, and the leafwing definitely noticed.
“I’m sorry for spooking you,” she said, “what’s your name little one?”
She spoke in a quiet and soft voice. Was she, trying to soothe her? That wasn’t going to work, Hoverfly won’t fall for such tricks.. not again.
“H-hoverf-fly..?” Hoverfly wasn’t sure why she answered.. maybe her instincts were behaving strangely. Shouldn’t she be dead right now? This leafwing is going to kill her eventually, it’s what they do. They’re savages. “Maybe playing along for now is the best choice,” she thought to herself.
“That’s a nice name,” the leafwing said, “I’m Rose. I know I look scary, but there’s no need to be afraid.”
It was definitely a trap. She tried to escape over Rose’s wing, but she was grabbed and pulled back in and the wing was wrapped around her. Was it.. trying to hug her? It wasn’t attacking the way Hoverfly thought it would, and it definitely appeared to be a hug. Is it trying to comfort her? It wasn’t working. Beneath the smell of the cave, she could smell a hint of some of the flowers that grew in the school gardens. She peeked over Rose’s shoulder to see the dragon that had suggested to kill her, but Rose seemed to know what she was worried about and hid him behind her wing.
“Shhh… it’s ok. You’re ok.”
Oddly enough, Hoverfly’s breathing began to slow down. The leafwing began to hum, trying to calm her down more. It was working, to Hoverfly’s surprise.
