Moth: *silent*

*Jade leads you to the small cave opening Sumac went through. One by one you all entered. Surprisingly the cavern was huge. Rose is the last to enter.*

Jade: Pipevine and I explored a bit and we found a few small ponds not too far from here.

Pipevine: unfortunately a few of them are not drinkable. Swallowtail thought it was sea water, so we haven’t tried anything with it yet. Only one of them is.

Rose: that’s still lucky you found freshwater all the way out here.

Ivy: the cave also seems to extend back onto the mainland of Pantala, so that could be another reason. I bet if we looked hard enough we could find an opening near Lake Scorpion, even though that is dangerous. *Maple and Ivy set down their crates*

*Moth looks around*

*Ivy smirks*

Rose: Ivy what— oh Clearsight help me…

*Rose turned to see what Ivy was chuckling at, Sumac had passed out on top of a Hivewing, who was also blindfolded. It was hard to tell the Hivewing was even awake until he spoke*

????????: um.. help. *next to him was a hybrid, who was still asleep. You could make out some silkwing features but they had a barbed tail.*

Rose: oh Swallowtail..

Swallowtail: glad you guys missed me.

Ivy: Sumac certainly did. *almost laughing now*

Swallowtail: *shocked but quiet* that’s Sumac on top of me?

Ivy: lift the blindfold, see for yourself. I wouldn’t worry about Wasp right now.

*Swallowtail lifts the blindfold to find Sumac laying on top of him.*

Swallowtail: oh he’s out, out. Nevermind about the help since I can see now. *he slides Sumac off of him carefully. When he stands up he stretches his wings* Just didn’t want to hurt him on accident. *He voluntarily puts on his blind fold*

*Swallowtail glances at Moth and automatically thinks she is a HiveWing- or a hybrid*

*Swallowtail looks a little wary of both you and Hoverfly for some reason before putting his blindfold back on. Looks like he felt the blindfold was necessary*

Swallowtail: Glad to see everyone made back ok.

Rose: yes.. we’ve also picked up a few dragons.

*Swallowtail nods, it’s hard to tell what his expression is with the blindfold on him*

Rose: this is Hoverfly, Ivy knocked her out while she was in one of the ware houses, we ended up taking her with us.

*Ivy gave a timid wave in the general direction she thought Swallowtail was standing, unaware that Swallowtail is also wearing a blindfold*

*Rose seems to be letting you introduce yourself*

Moth: I'm Moth.

*Swallowtail seems confused, he tilts his head towards Jade*

Jade: it’s okay to lift your blindfold Swallowtail.

Swallowtail; what if queen wasp—

Jade: we just talked about this, you can’t be worried about Wasp all the time.

*Swallowtail pauses for a moment and nods, he lifts his blindfold again, looks like he still thinks you’re a Hivewing.*

Swallowtail: … I’m Swallowtail, glad to meet you. *he definitely is a hivewing*

Moth: Nice to meet you too. *Swallowtail notices her antennaes, wing shape, and wrists and starts thinking she's a gtbrud*

*Swallowtail then begins to think his eyes are tricking him after not seeing a Hivewing in a long time, but the glow of you’re silkglands is unmistakable flamesilk, he becomes even more wary, despite one of his friends already being a silkwing/Hivewing hybrid, they were just waking up too*

????: more friends?

Swallowtail: I’d be careful Autumn…

Rose: they’re stuck with us now until we can get help. I suggest you get to know them better.

Swallowtail: two hivewings? *he sounds unsure, and looks somewhat afraid*

Autumn: *laughing and walking next to him* you say that like you aren’t a Hivewing yourself, silly.

*Swallowtail brushed it off and gave a weak chuckle, maybe only because they were friends from the same hive*

Ivy: Moth is a silkwing, you aren’t the only one to mistake her for a Hivewing. She got Sumac and I as well. *Swallowtail started to look a little better after that* Hoverfly is a Hivewing though.

Hoverfly: *thinking: “another Hivewing?!”

*Moth sits back and watches, uneasy about Swallowtail*

Thank you for sticking with me for so long.. I knew I was dragging this arc too long, I’m sorry. I just saw you deleted and I figured I should say something. So.. thank you for role playing with me all this time.

*Rose began to descend, Hoverfly is clutching Rose’s scales so hard she almost accidentally drew blood. Rose tried to calm her by quietly humming, it didn’t have much of an effect. The sun was almost up. As you got closer, you could see two silkwings. You could tell they hadn’t eaten in a while. It looks like they spotted you and began to walk over towards where you were landing. When they noticed Rose was carrying a Hivewing, they both slowed down.*

*Now in the light, you could see the other dragons clearer. Sumac looked like he hasn’t slept in a week, maybe longer. Ivy, despite the cave confusion and the mission seemed relatively ok, she wasn’t talking much. Maple was definitely the most cheerful and energetic that morning. Rose trying her best to keep Hoverfly calm, while Hoverfly seemed more afraid than ever. You notice that she had several scars that it seemed like she had before she had met all of you.*

*Moth feels a bit of sympathy for the HiveWing*

(I didn’t notice it, thank you for telling me. Unfortunately it’s already in stream. I can ask one of the mods if they could change it though)

*Rose lands first before gently lowering the Hivewing on the grass so they could get up.*

*the two silkwings approach, they look hesitant to talk because of Hoverfly.*

Rose: it’s alright, she’s blindfolded.

????: thank Clearsight you’re all alright.

Sumac: *he landed but not very carefully, he almost crashed into Hoverfly, he seems like he’s off balance though it’s questionable if he tries to crash into Hoverfly on purpose. He looks like he’s ready to pass out though.* Sorry.. *he mumbled, barely enough for Hoverfly and those around him to hear. Hoverfly seemed a little confused by that.*

*Maple and Ivy landed behind him, Ivy nudged Hoverfly closer to Rose.*

*She walks up to Sumac* Are you okay?

*Sumac waves you off, he’s either to tired to answer or he doesn’t want to talk. Likely the latter since he’s still trying to seem awake enough to function, but you can definitely tell he hasn’t slept in at least a few days, likely longer*

????: Sumac, delaying answering her question is just going to make the rest of us ask.

Sumac: alright fine, I’m just tired. *thinking: “great, more embarrassment. I’m supposed to be strong and able to work no matter the conditions.”*

Rose: then go get some rest.

Sumac: I don’t need it.

Rose: now.

*Sumac sighs and trudges into a cavern you didn’t see initially*

*both silkwings look confused as he slowly walked by them*

???????: what happened to him?

Ivy: great question. I don’t want to—

*Rose stops her*

Rose: he’s been agitated. I assume he hasn’t been sleeping which could be contributing to it, just give him some time to rest, he’ll be fine.

????: *nodding* and what’s with the Hivewing?

*Hoverfly shivered and hid behind Rose, she didn’t like not being able to see who was talking to her.*

Ivy: Sumac and I got caught, and I knocked her out to avoid raising alarm. We ended up bringing her with us.

*the female silkwing still seemed a little confused by the decision but didn’t press it too hard. They were stuck with it now after all.*

*Moth sighs*

Rose: we also failed to get the supplies Swallowtail wanted if you were wondering.

????: oh.. then I guess we can’t try making a cure after all.

Maple: I forgot about that, I hope Swallowtail won’t be mad we lost them.

???????: I doubt it, he’s been more depressed lately. Something about it’s either impossible or there isn’t enough time to make a cure.

*Hoverfly seems confused but to afraid to ask the question*

*Moth stays silent*

Rose: then I guess we don’t have to worry about the box we left anymore, still though, I think we should at least have tried even if the odds were slim.

*one of silkwings noticed your flame silk*

???? (Jade): I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Jade. This is Pipevine.

Pipevine: hello. *he waves*

Moth: I'm Moth. *The two SilkWings think she is a hybrid because of her appearance*

*Swallowtail doesn’t look like the fighting type, it’s also weird that he seems to dislike his own tribe. He doesn’t complain further and slides his blindfold over his eyes again*

Autumn: nice to meet you Moth and Hoverfly. I’m Autumn, just mind my tail and you’ll be okay. *she looks like a silkwing, she has regular silk glands but.. her tail ended with a barb, similar to a hivewing’s tail stinger* I see you’ve already met my sister.

Jade: yep.

Pipevine: do we want to show Rose the cave system now?

Jade: they should rest, they looked like they just crossed the bay.

Pipevine: true. We’ll keep watch and wake you all if something happens.

Moth: *sighs*

Jade: is something wrong?

Moth: No. I'm just in pain. *she explains to Jade about the problem with her silk glands*

Jade: flamesilk.. huh.. yeah, it’s tough to get used to. *she lifts up the cloth covering her silk glands, she has flamesilk too* To be honest, I can try my best to help even if I don’t really understand much of flamesilk myself… I would give anything except my own mind to be able to talk with the few flamesilks Wasp keeps in her dungeon for the sake of making lamps and see what they think, but it’s impossible to get there. I do know there are different kinds of flamesilk you can produce, some burn and catch other things on fire easily, others give off a comforting warmth and glow. I’m not really sure how to control it, but I’ve been trying to train myself to produce the safer variants.

Moth: I've been practicing. *the others see her go to produce some flamesilk*

*With the added light, to the cave, everything could be seen much clearer. Maple seemed amazed by the flamesilk, Rose and Ivy used it to check on Sumac and Hoverfly. Hoverfly’s scars were once again visible.*

Jade: looks like you’re doing pretty good to me. *She uses some of her flamesilk and wraps it around one of her horns. It gives off a warm glow in the dark cavern.*

*she winces as her wrists burn*

Jade: if it hurts to use it, don’t use it unless you have to. The type of flamesilk you’re producing might be too hot in this stage. Overtime you can learn to make the less harmful versions. It’s difficult with no one to train you, I can try my best even if I’m not quite sure what I’m doing, though.

*she smiles- well, tries to under gritted teath- at Jade* Thank you.

Jade: do your silk glands normally hurt you?

*she shakes her head*

Jade: hm.. I don’t know what to do about that. I don’t think I’ve had that problem except when I’ve tried to produce harmful flamesilk. Hurt a little afterwards.

Swallowtail: maybe something’s wrong with her silk glands?

Jade: well I wasn’t going to say that… *turning back to you again* when did it start hurting you?

Moth: A week ago.

Jade: then Swallowtail might be right. Something may be wrong. I don’t know for sure though. How long have you been able to use flamesilk?

Moth: Ever since I broke out of my Chysalis, when else?

Jade: I don’t exactly know how long ago that was for you. I broke out of my chrysalis fairly recently, but before the book of Clearsight was stolen, but I don’t know about when you finished you’re metamorphosis.

Moth: I'm 11, does that help?

Jade: oh… (Jade is 6 lmao)

Autumn: did you just try to tell an adult how to use flamesilk?

Jade: not now Autumn.

Autumn: that’s hilarious.

Pipevine: it is a little funny.

Jade: I’m sure it is. *a little frustrated and embarrassed, but she chuckles anyway*

*Moth holds in a laugh*

(Yeah, Rose is the only adult dragon OC I have that’s present. Technically Jade and Maple are due to Pantala’s standards, but Rose is much older than them. Sumac and Maple’s reactions would have been so much different lmao.)

Jade: sorry.. *she looks very embarrassed*

Swallowtail: … it’s possible they might be infected, but I can’t really be too sure.

*she nods*

*Pipevine’s stomach began to growl*

Rose: Pipevine, Autumn, and Jade, we managed to get some vegetables for you, don’t eat them all, we might be able to grow more using leaf speak.

Pipevine: we were going to ration them over every few days anyways. But being honest, I’m starving. *he did look a little thin*

Rose; just don’t take too much Pipevine.

*the crates are set down inside the cave, while Rose, Maple, Ivy, and Hoverfly find a place to lay down, Jade, Pipevine, and Autumn distribute some of the vegetables among themselves, Swallowtail goes to lay back down.*

Autumn: Swallowtail, aren’t you going to eat something?

Swallowtail; *he shook his head, he didn’t seem in too bad of a condition*

*Rose stood up and grabbed a piece of meat from one of the containers and handed it to him*

Rose: as far as I know, you haven’t eaten in a week. You need to keep your strength up.

Jade: nice to meet you.

Rose: yeah, we thought she was a hybrid at first, Ivy and Sumac almost attacked her.

Pipevine; are you a hybrid? *He seemed curious about it*

*Jade looks embarrassed because of Pipevine’s question, Pipevine didn’t mean to sound like he was being rude or insulting if it did, he was just thought that being a hybrid was more like an interesting fact about someone*

Moth: No.

Pipevine: oh..

Jade: Pipevine, some dragons don’t like being asked that question.

Pipevine: Oh. *now looking embarrassed* My bad.

Hoverfly: I thought hybrids were illegal.

Jade: in most of the hives they are.

Pipevine: alright… um.. *thinking of a way to try to switch the topic* a what hive are you from?

*You noticed Jade was keeping her silk glands covered*

Moth: (I forgot which one I said in the beginning) Mantis Hive. *Jade notices Moth's silk glands*

(I think you said Cicada) *Jade doesn’t say anything, she figures you didn’t want that pointe out either. Another thing that was noticeable was that her Hivewing issued wrist cuff is gone*

Jade: nice to meet you. I’m actually from Bloodworm hive, but for the last few years I’ve lived in Jewel Hive.

Pipevine: I’m from Jewel Hive as well.

Ivy: Oh! Speaking of Bloodworm hive while we’re on the topic, it was burnt down.

Jade: you serious? I missed that? Three moons, I would have loved to see that hive on fire.

*Hoverfly begins trembling, why would a silkwing be praising a horrific event? She became timid again*

*Moth stays silent*

Ivy: honestly I thought you wouldn’t be nearly as happy as you are right now.

*Jade appeared to be grinning*

Jade: oh, they separated me from my sister when my mother and my step father tried to move us out of there, made her work in construction when she was a 3 year old dragonet, I could go on.

*Hoverfly was definitely less confused now, but she was still trembling, she was afraid of them, and Jade could see that*

Jade: are you from there or something?

*Hoverfly didn’t realize she was referring to her*

Jade: hey, Hoverfly, you awake?

Hoverfly: h-huh.. oh.. n-no I’m from M-mantis hive.

*Jade seems to be thinking about her response*

*Moth smiles at Hoverfly*

Jade: … bringing her here was a mistake.

Ivy: we didn’t have much of a choice.

Jade: but you should have at least had common sense and left her in her own hive. *she sighs and shrugs* but I guess we’re stuck with her now.

Rose: that may have alerted Wasp if another dragon found her unconscious. She would have begun taking over the rest of the hives sooner. Besides, if you’re trying to scare her, Sumac already gave her that treatment. He nearly killed her.

*Jade looked surprised for a moment*

*Hoverfly was still shivering afraid, Jade puts her talon on Hoverfly’s shoulder reassuringly for some reason*

Jade: look.. I’m sorry. I’ve just had a bad experience with hivewings, especially when I was still at bloodworm. I know not all of you are bad dragons. Just… give us time to trust you.

*Hoverfly nodded*

Jade: we should talk more inside. We don’t want another patrol to see us.

*Moth nods*
