The excrementitious lump of perennially lumbering idiocy that is Russia is a raging sopping yeast infection that will never go away.

Gosh, to be the biggest country in the world while holding on to the utterly useless miscreant crown would be one hilarious irony if it wasn't so pathetic, and in a cold sore with a thorn stuck in it kind of way.

Usually when someone has a massive inferiority complex, we feel sorry for them. But in their case, it not only is a case of deservedly so, it doesn't even begin to suffice.
Ugh, what an eternally miserable mess.

Ever since the October Revolution (and even earlier, thanks to some especially tyrannical tsars), Russia’s been pretty much eternally stuck in an absolute mess of oppressive regimes. Even when there’s some hope like after the February Revolution or the fall of the USSR, a dictator manages to seize power within a year or two.
It’s honestly quite sad.

They were barely out of their feudalistic culture a century ago, and it's a mindset they've not been able to shake. They see freer societies as chaotic messes teetering on implosion, a view exploited by the Soviet and post-Soviet regimes. So to them, tryrants are an accepted part of life. They grumble about their problems, grab that vodka, and go through the motions. They're still vey much a feudalistic society, only with wiring and other modern accoutrements.

Similar to the Middle East, heavily regimentated hierarchy with heavy authoritarian rule, religion being a big lumbering oppressive figure looming over it all for both as well. The notion of individuality outside of minor personal adustments to keep the machine flowing is alien to them. Dictators are what is needed to make the world operational as far as they're concerned.

It reminds me of Hans-Hermann Hoppe’s absurd ancap theories: the current doctrine of the Russian government is built upon the assumption that democracy is the worst possible form of government, and that anything else, up to and including monarchy, is a preferable or even desirable alternative. Often this is further justified via whataboutism exploiting actual flaws in Western democracies, or just random garbage about the degenerate Judeo-Masonic capitalist west, or other buzzwords depending on the current dictator. People in Russia and elsewhere who are exposed to Kremlin propaganda are bombarded with the notion that dictatorial, Tsarist-style absolutism are necessary for a strong, functional state.

Late into the USSR, they started to have more democratic systems. Then it split.

Just a reminder that West African countries were basically forced to be economically controlled by France...

Still doesn’t justify shouting “Long live Putin” in the streets.
