In the USA, citizens and visiting foreigners with a passport,
are read their Miranda Rights, while being arrested for
committing a felony, then given a court appointed defense attorney
paid for by the taxpayer, if they cannot afford one, to ensure the accused is given a fair trial.
A jury of their peers is assembled and must be convinced by evidence submitted
at trial being convicted then sentenced to do prison time.

It is the fairest system in history, ever devised to enforce laws to protect the rights of other free citizens
from suffering an imposition imposed upon them by a perpetrator.

When you blanketly pardon all felonious criminals, because they are incarcerated, rather than
eliminated or hanged, drawn, and quartered, for their capital offenses, you are saying to a free society that they must suffer as victims of felons and are slaves to any criminal whim.

Prisons are humane places to allow violent criminals to live, and contemplate the actions they chose to freely perpetrate felonies against neighbors, Free people whom have an equal right to live without harm from criminal behavior.

When you advocate for convicted prisoners, you are not for equal treatment under the law for the victims of their crimes. You are for special rights for people whom chose to do wrong unto others.

Is the system perfect? No. Rarely, people get convicted of crimes they do not commit. Under this system, it is minimal and rare and ought to be so. It's better than what you advocate for.

Sweden's prison system is a hell of a lot more effective than America's BTW. I don't think America's prison slavery should be legal; I don't think private prisons should be legal either.

Nobody could argue with you there either, as they had no more percentage incidents of virus than anywhere else. Sweden just did not choose to react to the virus, by ruining their entire economy, and put their own citizens out of business while at the same time suffering others in their society, albeit statistically few, horrifically got sick and died.

If the American justice system was just white-collar crime and blue-collar crime would be treated the same. Coke would not be punished less than crack, and addiction would be medicalized and not criminalized. I also take issue with the way no one went to jail from PG&E when they murdered a slew of people here in CA. The scammer banks got away with their subprime mortgage scam, while people lost their homes in droves, and then the banks got paid by the government for f**king people over with scammer loans.

Also, I am a survivor of abuse and attempted murder. Don't use survivors of violent crimes to lecture me on what's ethical on that topic. I never said abusers and murderers and those who rape others shouldn't go to jail.

in the USA, they've ALL individually had a fair trial, and either pleaded guilty, or had enough overwhelming evidence presented at their fair trial, prior to being convicted beyond a reasonable doubt of a Felony.

What is your proposal for a solution to encourage people to refrain from committing felony actions, so the numbers of convicts in prisons go down, and so less people are convicted of crimes, because they chose not to perform felonious acitons? Therefore, they'll lead a free life outside of incarceration.

Among other things, we can lower the crime rate by decriminalizing drugs and medicalizing addiction instead of criminalizing them, investing in a federal job guarantee, making private prisons illegal so capitalists don't have the incentive to lock people up to use for slave labor, and making prison slavery illegal. We'd also need to give citizens universal national healthcare and make all schools 100% federally funded to equalize the quality of education and get rid of the school-to-prison pipeline in poor areas
