So, Trump wants to open up 0.5 percent of our undeveloped federal land — 3.2 million acres — to give hundreds of thousands of young people a new shot at homeownership via his of “Freedom Cities” (I admit it - that’s a really stupid name) and now providing affordable housing to Americans is something liberals are against?

And Trump is championing vertical takeoff and landing personal vehicles (eVTOLs) because China is already studying the technology. NASA, Boeing, Bell, and Airbus have all released concepts. Liberals are against that? Really?

He proposed making cars and housing more affordable, as well as launching a “beautification campaign,” tearing down “ugly buildings” and building more parks.

He even proposed giving “baby bonus” grants from the government to new mothers. That must make you liberals quake in anger. ORANGE MAN BAD!

We saw how his promised WALL failed in his first (and probably only) term. Now he says Las Vegas can have an ocean - is he going to build the Trumpama Canal from California?

I didn’t see a wall failing. I saw it working and so did ICE and the USBP. and the residents of border towns. I also saw massive stonewalling of its construction by the left (led by Nancy Pelosi) saying that under no circumstances would there ever be a wall, because it was an “immorality.”

As you can see, my comment had both. When I edited it, I forgot to take out the million and put billion. Had you paid any attention to this, you’d understand. There's reasons for immigration, legal or not:

1. Notice the names in science, medicine, tech, research & development? Yeah, that.
First generation born Americans have higher IQs and better achievement in education than their parents. By the third generation, they're just as stupid as everyone else here.
Face it, the last time anyone saw a Dr named "Smith" was in Lost in Space.

2. 70% of small business starts are by immigrants. As with #1, the more generations born here, the less hunger to do anything harder than nuking a Hot Pocket every hour while working that Xbox. Foreigners have rescued dying towns with economic activity.

3. Cheap labor. This why illegals are here. If we can stop Cuban cigars from coming here, we can stop illegals out in the open in tobacco farms.
Florida is about to show what happens when you illegalize hiring illegal aliens. Same as happened in 2020 when between the Shut Down and trying to dodge INS and Covid at the same time, migrants largely ceased traveling between states, many went back home, and we're still suffering the shortages in the supermarket that came with the ensuing labor shortages.

Of course the idiotic dunderheads now granting them asylum as 'refugees' ain't helping any, because with legal status comes legal employment and no picking lettuce for way less than minimum wage.

Part of me thinks the republicans love having a border in crisis, so they have one thing they can run on.

I’m first generation. My 77 year old Polish mother came here in 65. My dad came in 69. They started with nothing, owned their business, instilled pride in country, self and community and preached education. They hired immigrants of every nationality to work for them. I don’t really disagree with much of what you are saying yet every time my parents spoke and speak about immigration, they say to do it the right way. My dad had to wait 4 years to come here without my mom. Communist Poland was not easy to escape. Four years he waited and they never took a single penny of assistance from anyone and began working day one. My mom, a 4th year engineering student in Poland one day, was cleaning toilets as a maid the best day in the land of opportunity. So I get it. We also all reside in California so immigration is in our face 24/7. I believe we must do a better job of controlling who comes here. I think we need to address the massive corruption and financial inequity in the countries below the United States to see why these people are fleeing and risking death to leave. I agree with most of that statement. The thing is the crisis at the border requires massive amounts of money that republicans won’t ever sign off on. Even for the wall they promised. Even if they get the money, they turn it down and say it’s not enough. (As misguided and ineffective as it is). Dirty tricksters.

re: Polish immigrants.

That's unusual because all people who came from certain countries like the USSR and its satellites, as well as Korea, Cuba... (and I suspect Iran for a while after the 79 revolution) had to do was get here. That's it. Arrive, and they got to stay. Period. Fast tracked to citizenship, 24 months (later reduced to 18 in the late 80s or early 90s) free rent, and further assistance and grants and interest free loans for school, buying homes, starting businesses....
It isn't any cheaper for poor people escaping Communism to make it in the USA, let alone in expensive NYC (Greetings from Greenpoint!). "Capitalism bad, work for state in factory" isn't exactly good prep for making it here independently.

Granted, there was like 8 Poles brought along to Jamestown (the only craftsmen the English brought with them! The Brits thought they could just buy what they needed when they got here! The 'paperwork' was their ticket stub for the ship, the wait time was how long it took to sail here. 1924 put limits on primarily non-Europeans. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 eliminated those limits which had favored northwestern Europeans). While those with actual roots going thousands of years do not isn't hypocrisy and illogical, it's just stupid. Plain stupid.
