Mark Twain Says No One Ever Taught Him That Slavery Was Wrong. (What Does This Mean For Moral Responsibility?)

Mark Twain Says No One Ever Taught Him That Slavery Was Wrong. (What Does This Mean For Moral Responsibility?) | "In my schoolboy days I had no aversion to slavery.
I was not aware that there was anything wrong about it. No one arraigned it in my hearing; the local papers said nothing against it;
the local pulpit taught us that God approved it,
that it was a holy thing,
and that the doubter need only look in the Bible
if he wished to settle his mind
– and then the texts were read aloud to us
 make the matter sure"

That pastor was reading from the wrong part of Bible considering we're under the New Covenant and probably glossed over the Rules that God set down for Israel owning slaves - no unjust beatings, no branding/slave tattoos, proper housing/meals/clothing, a time limit on owning a slave, and quite a few other Rules that US slave owners ignored or broke on a daily basis.
