Gas? So you buy your gas from uncle sam? Holy shit you are confused!!

The Gas tax that the state and fed charge stays the same, but when the dollar amount of gas increases the amount of tax due on the purchase increases. So Auntie state and Uncle Sam come out smelling like a rose when all those old vehicles and trucks fill up on gas.

I wonder what pays for road paving?

Obviously not the tax payer. State government are too busy funneling that money somewhere else putting road repairs off for decades. Most of the roads are repaired via counties vs a state road fund where I’m from.

Vehicle tax goes to repair roads along with the gas tax but nothing really gets repaired.

If you look up Vehicle tax, there is a state that charges vehicle tax for 14 years starting from the year the car was made. So if you are a smart car shopper you purchase a car that is 14 years or older. That way the vehicle tax has already been paid. Also the vehicle tax depends on how much you purchase the car for. This is a separate tax from the sales tax. Depending on the city you live in they also charge a wheel tax on top of it all. So its quite the slap to the tax payers when the roads are all crap but the money sucked out of the consumer. One big joke.

It’s called motor vehicle property tax aka vehicle tax. Look it up yourself. You can find at least 15 states charging this ridiculous tax. I find it funny that the states who don’t charge this tax have the best roads…. Ironic
