And for the record, yes, you did break a rule.
One of the rules of the rp stream specifically states to be respectful, and ignoring people's roleplay responses and having your character do their own thing regardless isn't respectful at all. This also might fit into overpowered ocs, but I'm not sure.

It's also been stated in that person's rules not to ignore their character, so if you didn't like the rp premise why did you comment??
