Uhm, thats what art is, an extension of ones self, characters, songs, art are all based off ones self, influences, happenings and people from around their orbit either literall or metaphoric. Like the saying goes, "write what you know".
Woke characters these days are just self inserts of their creators so they can consider themselves as part of the franchise or get plowed by their favorite characters. It's basically rewriting something that was already good into a fanfiction.
