So Matthew, written by Matthew the disciple, wasn't firsthand? Really?

Modern biblical scholars seem to agree that the scriptures weren’t written by Jesus’ disciples, based on when they originate, and instead were authored by completely anonymous people.

I've said previously I don't agree with many modern biblical scholars.

I also only claimed that Matthew was written by Matthew, not that the other gospels were written by the disciples.

Do you really think people lived into their hundreds back then? The first gospels, the book of Mark, was authored 40 years after the alleged death of Jesus.

I don't believe people still lived into their hundreds at that time.

Mark was 15-16 years old when Jesus died (believe it or not people were considered adults much earlier back then), meaning he would be about 55-56 when he wrote his gospel. I don't see your point.

Around the alleged death of Jesus, people in the Roman Empire lived between 25-30 years. Just saying.

"The ~50% that reached age 10 could also expect to reach ~45-50. The 46-49% that survived to their mid-teens could, on average, expect to reach around 48–54, although of course many lived much longer or shorter lives for varied reasons, including wars for males and childbirth for females."

Either way, what makes you believe the consensus of Bible scholars is wrong?

Because most of them believe the earth is flat, the earth is 6000 years old, evolution isn't real, and dinosaurs didn't exist, while none of those things contradict the bible.

None of that is supported by evidence, what is supported by evidence is that the original texts did not contain “the gospels according to Mark, Matthew, Luke, John” and that these were added much later.

Keyword "believe". Scholars "believe" this. You have provided no evidence showing that the gospels were not written by disciples.

Actually, that's just for Luke and John.

I've heard people say that Luke and John were inspired by Matthew and Mark, but I've never seen anyone say that all four were inspired.

Could I see a source?
