The universe and natural forces on earth are incredibly hostile to life.

Someone told me that Jupiter was proof of intelligent design since there are a bunch of killer asteroids in our solar system, and Jupiter's higher gravity absorbs most of them. My objection is that if the solar system was intelligently designed, why are there killer asteroids in our solar system in the first place?

What about oxygen, water, and all the other things keeping us alive on this one planet that shouldn't exist according to probability?
