See thats incorrect. Not only will they be decimated, the asteroid will tear out the earth and kill the hundred of thousands people around by brute force impact force and kick dirt into air and send people into a horrible slow death as the sun forsaken them and fires rage across the earth. Dirt and ashes rain like boulders killing millions. A gruesome slow death for every creature on earth as the last of intelligent life slowly trickles out and is nothing more than the quick yelp of an ant as the foot comes down to crush it. Those beyond this planet would hear nothing and see nothing. You are nothing, history does not care about this day. The day will come and pass, so will the next and the next. History does not care. This will go down in history as much as a single piece of bacteria will. Maybe at most someone will see a ripple affect as a passing of wind blowing their hair on another planet and think ...nothing

well, you are right in a sense, but this meteor isn't nearly as bad
i'd estimate its size to be around 25 to 150 meters in diameter, and while this will easily kill the two people and anyone nearby, it ain't the dino killer Chicxulub which was 10 kilometres in size, just for comparison, so no, this isn't armageddon
and before anyone starts nerd emoji-ing me, i will nerd emoji myself just so they keep quiet: 🤓

how about if meteor is so huge when goes through atmosphere is still big and it's small anof just to kill those 2 people

that's probably possible too, but i'm not an expert so i'm not 100% sure

Well we dont know how far away it is according to the picture. We know that it has entered the atmosphere but it could be up to 60 miles (96.5 kilometers) away and this could be showing to the entire continent. It could look this big to every while still being a minute or two away from time of impact. In fact this makes the most sense because if it was this small the entire time it would have burnt up in atmosphere. This meteor could be up to 10 - 15 miles in diameter (16 - 24 kilometers) (As a side note this meteor wont explode in air like most it would indeed impact), in that case maybe a ramped it up a tad for effect but that would still have a impact radius of almost 30 miles. And would cause horrible 7-9 Richter scale earthquakes and would kick some dirt up and cause famine across the whole continent. The world would probably feel it but it wouldn't destroy it. In conclusion here its probably bigger than you think but farther away as well or it would had made it through the atmosphere, (PS my friend saw me writing this and made a good point, If it was that close it burn the people as soon as it got close cause it burning up and the heat effect would indeed have killed them already so it must be farther away and bigger.) Also the fact that is bigger is why they can see the flame and heat even as it is farther away. It probably wouldn't do as much damage as my first comment said an I knew that but I wanted some existential effect so I ramped it up a bit but.. this would definitely kill more than 2 people.

(hi im that friend, imma add to this) My point is made in the post im replying to, however, the asteroid could be extremely large or very small. Based on the clear sky that lacks light pollution, there are no major cities within lets say, 40-50 miles. This means a large asteroid and the earthquake that results from it would kill at the most 50,000 people. There is also the thought that it is a asteroid fragment that has been burning up in the atmosphere, which would only kill the 2 people at most. The moon being completely visible means that there are no heat lines, which enforces the fact that the asteroid is either really large and far away, or small and close. The man in the comic at first points out the "shooting star" which would be this particular asteroid. This could mean that there is a different situation where the asteroid is of any size, but is traveling at around 1700 miles per hour (after subtracting drag). This would mean that there are drastic effects no matter the size of the asteroid. Yes i have no life

I meant to say as well that the asteroid get close to them fast

both of y'all do have good points
i kinda forgot to include perspective into this, and yeah, smaller meteors under like 1km would likely just burn up without impact
