Electronic powered aircraft carriers? To put that into perspective they tend to be the same height/length as most skyscrapers and are crewed with a population of one or two small towns.

The DoD wants to move to EVs for a lot of reasons. In 2020, GM won the troop transport contract. https://www.defensenews.com/land/2020/06/29/gm-defense-wins-infantry-squad-vehicle-production-contract/

Basically, it's going to be the new HUMV.

You're laughing about it now, but very soon there's going to be a lot of military grade EV tech on the market.

Until the batteries die & they are sitting ducks. Or the batteries explode.

Or until the tanks run out of gas. Then they're sitting ducks.

Or the engine burns out.

See? Same problems with different tech.

You can bring fuel in to a battlefield but not an electrical grid

Think of something in your life that is powered by batteries.

Now.

Think about how quickly you can change the drained batteries for fully charged ones.

Now.

Do you think that the engineers working on these projects also have access to these sorts of devices and have to change those batteries?

Now.

Take 45 seconds and think:

Could you design a vehicle in which large batteries could be quickly and easily replaced?

Could you design a type of truck to carry those batteries to and from the battlefield?

Could you take existing technology and recharge those batteries within an hour in that safe location?

Now.

Can you imagine that those engineers who have access to the same battery powered pieces of tech also design those things taking longer than 45 seconds to think about it?

I bet they can.

Then why do car EVs take so much time to swap out?

That's an interesting question

It could be a design problem. Like. The nature of the shape of the car requires them to be in specific places.

Or it could be that they designed it that way so you have to take the car in to be serviced, at an expensive rate, so they're turning the car from a 1 time source of revenue or a revenue stream by expensive repairs that can't be done by the owner.

Either way...

You should probably ask the designers.

Who also design the EV tanks?

That'd be a great career day question.

You should go ask them.

Interesting question.

You should probably go ask the people who are working on those designs.
