If I translate it, it ruins it because it's more poetic in Russian.
Anyhow, here's the translation:

I've seen death, and I've seen battle.
Home I returned, alive.
But here, there is nobody waiting for me.
My beloved is with another,
and in this earth I'm alone.
But there, my friends storm bunkers.

The historical context is that it's from the eyes of a veteran of the Soviet-Afghan war ('79-'89) seeing the first Chechen war ('94-'96).

This reminds me of a short piece of poetry, but is beautiful nonetheless (at least to a Marxist like me).
