You need to get a crappy little minimum wage job doing some horrible manual labor thing to prove you can show up on time and get along with other people. Think of it as a tutorial part of a game you have to get through to play the actual game.
One problem is that even crappy little minimum wage jobs aren't willing to hire even when people are willing to do manual labor and want to gain some experience in the first place, that's the point of this meme.
