Þe main reason why it's 13+ is because coppa requires most social media to be 13+

ik its 13+ that's my entire argument. Considering it's a 13+ website, swears shouldn't be censored

Heres why I'm (somewhat) opposed to this idea.

My 10yo brother looks over my shoulder a lot, whether I want him to or not. And one time he saw a meme in the approval cue of a stream I moderate that had "mf" in it and asked me what it stood for. I didn't tell him, obviously, but my point is younger kids may still see the memes here.

I think that the h-word or d-word are excusable, but stuff like the s-word and f-word should definitely be marked NSFW. And images with racist or sexist words the n-word or b-word should just never be featured at all.

how is bitch sexist? its just what some people call a female dog?????

True, but people also use it to mean women, saying stuff like "You get no b's." It's treating women like things instead of people, and it's just wrong and evil.

bitch is a both gender word
because in breaking bad jesse pinkman says stuff to walter white (male) like "oh yo, i got the meth, bitch"
and people also say you get no bitches

thank you.

Exactly right, Even though underage people might join imgflip when their not suppose to, it is still a 13+ site and not, and saying the words, Fucck ,shhit shouldn't be censored.

Not-safe-for-work images must be marked NSFW

If your image has excessive cursing (moderate swearing can remain SFW), bikini girls, violence, or other mature content, check the NSFW (not safe for work) checkbox. This helps people in the Imgflip community browse Imgflip more comfortably in a family, professional, or public setting.

Therefore, already the rules

I'm just wanting the NSFW criteria to be more relaxed so swear words don't make the post nsfw. I also don't want swears to be censored in comments or in titles. Example: f**k. That shouldn't be censored
0 ups, 2y
Ok, but it just depends on how you use that word. Imgflip might not be able to have technology of the use of people's words. It would just assume things, hence why there are stuff that are automatically NSFW before you approve things.
0 ups, 2y
Like Aust said, it depends how you use the word.

"Fũck" can also refer to s*x, which is why it's censored.

Shit isn't censored because it also refers to literal poop/dung.

And to this day, I still do not know why "goďďamnit" is censored.

Why would you be using imgflip in a professional setting? That’s dumb. Or why in a family setting? Who would do that?

People who are distracted at work if they scroll through Imgflip in the workplace. Also if you look on imgflip at school if you're not supposed to, the NSFW button would be good so teachers don't get even more suspicious if students snitch on you for looking at "pornography"

That’s my point. You might as well scroll through reddit if you’re able to access imgflip. It’s much better and somehow less toxic than this site now. Even then, swearing should only be considered nsfw when it’s excessive. Otherwise you might as well allow children onto the site, who may ACCIDENTALLY hit the button anyways. The fact that it’s even visible isn’t a good look. What also isn’t a good look is NSFW memes filling streams when they actually are not NSFW and just contain an F-bomb or two.

Exactly, the stream rules would show that NSFW would apply to excessive swearing, not moderate swearing. Mind you some words that are strong swear words would automatically be NSFW because of the meaning behind it.

The button doesn’t do shit but be an inconvenience half the time. Even if it’s one word the nsfw label gets triggered. But for some reason you could upload an actual nsfw image and you would have to MANUALLY make it nsfw.

That happened to me when I was making a you-had-one-job meme not that long ago. I forgot to make the meme nsfw but still managed to make it nsfw before it even got approved

I'm pretty sure that word is supposed to be classed as moderate swearing. But maybe there could be either mod abuse or a glitch

Wouldn’t say your meme was nsfw at all. What kid is gonna know what a condom is? I didn’t even know when I was 15 (god I miss being innocent). I’ve seen much worse stuff than that go unmarked which was my problem with the site. I think generally that falls to yourself and the mods of the stream anyway.

If you looked up a condom, then you'd know why its nsfw. Plus if kids are scrolling on imgflip, then they shouldn't be because imgflip is a social network and by law, you cannot join a social network until you're 13, hence why these companies made it a term and condition that you must only join the network if you're 13 and over.

Just read imgflip ToS and you'll know what I'm talking about...

We know, and assuming that most kids who are 13 know what a condom is before coming here, likely from somewhere else, it’s not really nsfw. Again, I have seen much worse stuff go unmarked.

Still a mature topic

Yes but they’re probably not going to look it up from a meme. I know I never usually did, I just asked someone in the comments.

But I think I’ve gone too far off topic. The whole what is nsfw and what counts as nsfw issue needs to be resolved with clear lines determining sfw and nsfw.
0 ups, 2y
There are still adults that use the you-had-one-job stream and if they're at work scrolling on imgflip and they find the word condom on my meme, then they're looking at stuff they shouldn't be at work (assuming this would happen on lunch break)
0 ups, 2y,

Ok and? I wouldn’t consider imgflip to be the website I would scroll through if I was on a lunch break for work lmao. Maybe a few people do it, but the vast majority of people would probably have something better to do (like talk with their coworkers).
0 ups, 2y
I know. More people would go on other social networks like Facebook or Twitter or Insta
