funny car crash | PEOPLE DRINK AND DRIVE BUT NO ONE IS MARCHING TO BAN PEOPLE FROM DRIVING | image tagged in funny car crash | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
There is one and only one reason you care to disarm another person and that is if you intend to do them harm. If you don't intend in harming an armed person, it doesn't matter what weapons they have.

Are you seriously not aware of the inordinate efforts that have been put into restricting and policing drunk driving???

You don't understand economics!

Oh. Well since you put it like that

Inordinate? You believe too much is being done to determine and punish drunk drivers?

Of course there have been incidents where anti-drunk driving laws have gone too far! That's normal. There have been incidents where regulating milk safety has gone too far. That doesn't invalidate the fact that over 50 years of campaigning against drunk driving with legislative support, the death rates due to drunk driving have slashed. Lives have been saved simply because we had that conversation about what works and what doesn't, because a lot of it DID work.

it seems like the solution is stiff punishment and promotion of operation safety.

We also need to take away the qualified immunity from auto manufacturers when someone uses their product illegally.

And we stopped giving the right to drive a car to literally anybody. Rather obvious missing item on your list.

Driving is a privilege, not a right.

But we haven't made cars so expensive that drunks cannot afford to drive.

You don't think the drunk driving fines are expensive enough? You never met someone who was going through a fortune in cab fares because they lost their license to even HAVE a car?
[deleted]

So, you believe that people that misuse alcohol and cars together should pay a stiff penalty for their own crimes. Not everyone that that uses them responsibly.

You also believe that everyone that uses firearms responsibly should be denied thar right because criminals use them illegally.

If you say so. You haven't actually asked me what I believe but you obviously know me better than I do so ok.

But we do make everyone including responsible car drivers prove they're not drinking and driving so that we can take the cars away from people that do though. So you're still wrong.

Actually SCOTUS has ruled that you cannot make everyone prove they are sober while driving.

Probable cause and innocent until proven guilty and all that faldaral.

You gave your opinion of firearms ownership in your flawed economic rant about guns.

And, tellingly, you never actually described what the flaw was. You just copy and pasted a list of irrelevant gun facts from your uncle's weekly chain emails.

Your flaw is that Americans have the right to keep and bear arms.

Your plan would make them unattainable by people that need them.

Are you under the impression that the Second Ammendement requires that guns be handed out for free? Because I don't think ANY court has interpreted that guns having a price tag on them requiring exchange of some kind of money would be ruled as an infringement.

You are patently anti gun so just stop the 💩.
3 ups, 2y
They can’t. The goal isn’t to get the guns out of the criminals hands. The goal is to get them out of YOUR hands.

Looks like struck a nerve. The subject at hand is firearms in the hands of criminals. Do try to stay on topic, won’t you? There’s a good lad.

"What happens to the demand curve when the price goes up? Demand goes down. And suddenly criminals don't want guns anymore."

Nope, thesis, you're wrong (again...)

When demand goes down, the prices go down. It's a cycle.

Besides, do you really think criminal demand for illegal firearms is impacted in any meaningful way by the price of the illegal firearm?

If you do, I have some prime Florida bottom land you may be interested in purchasing.
[deleted]
0 ups, 2y
Seriously, take a basic econ class. The Demand Curve is the first thing you learn. When prices go up, demand goes down - opposite of the supply curve.

Would you buy a cookie for $16,000? No? Exactly. That's the Demand Curve.

So, let's make them really cheap so poor people can defend themselves from criminals.
1 up, 2y
The only way besides tax cuts to make guns cheaper is government intervention. And tax cuts would mean less regulations

1 - Eleven teens die each day because of texting while driving. Maybe it's time to raise the age of Smart Phone ownership to 21.

2 - If gun control laws actually worked, Chicago would be Mayberry, USA.

3 - The Second Amendment makes more women equal than the entire feminist movement.

4 - Legal gun owners have 300 million guns and probably a trillion rounds of ammo. Seriously, folks, if we were the problem, you'd know it.

5 - When JFK was killed, nobody blamed the rifle.

6 - The NRA (National Rifle Association) murders 0 people and receives ($$$$ 0) nothing in government funds. Planned Parenthood kills 350,000 babies every year and receives $500,000,000 in tax dollars annually.

7 - I have no problem with vigorous background checks when it comes to firearms. While we're at it, let's do the same when it comes to immigration, voter I.D., and candidates running for office.

8 - Folks keep talking about another Civil War. One side knows how to shoot and probably has a trillion rounds. The other side has crying closets and is confused about which bathroom to use. Now tell me, how do you think that would end?
