Same. Senate is a good idea, wish it could work, hope it can work again one day, but it hasn’t been working for several cycles now, if it ever did. At this point, I honestly can’t remember a single time Senate added value rather than being, at best, a major stumbling block for legislation, at worst, where bills go to die.

Activity and engagement will have to really pick up to make a bicameral legislature viable. As it stands, the issues with Senate seem too deep to be fixed with reform, and so abolishing it or putting it into deep hibernation is the way to go, for now.

Agreed. I don't think it was wrong at the time necessarily and that's just part of the roleplay, but now it's overstayed its usefulness.

What was the purpose of the senate?

Senate served two purposes: (1) A recruitment tool for getting more users and streams involved. (2) Serving as a check on the ambitions of, frankly, IncognitoGuy and his Memechat Empire.

The effectiveness of (1) isn’t entirely clear. Several are arguing that Senate makes things needlessly complex here and actively drives people away. I don’t know how to measure either theory, but it seems hard to imagine someone getting excited about this stream because of the Senate in particular, a relatively obscure institution that even regulars don’t fully grasp.

Re: (2), in the bad, old days whenever IG’s bad, old Conservative Party won an election, many of the stream’s most active users would be passed over and iced out of Congress, in favor of Memechat Empire randos who only ever showed up to vote precisely as IG told them to, if at all. So, Senate was for a time an institution that resisted IG’s corrupting of Congress. As OP said above, for several reasons (IG’s ban, reform of Congress seat appointments), that dynamic no longer exists, calling the need for a Senate into question.

If some people find a simplified version of the gov't this stream bases itself on as per its creation, design, and purpose to be too difficult to deal with, then perhaps they should stick with melding roblox memes or whatever the fad is this season that requires not a single iota of actual thought or input past repeatedly posting "bruh."

If certain attention seeking trouble makers were deprived of said attention and the ability to create trouble, they wouldn't be an issue.
Hey, I get it, people love drama and it can be funny, but from what I see dropping in every week or two, this stream functions as an IG fandom stream (too bad stream names can't be altered, because it should reflect this). Sheesh, even with his nth banning after debating that one for months, the current NSFW 'bill' or whatever folks are debating about is basically his baby. Not that that should automatically discount it, but is there not a single issue on this planet of 8 billion that isn't centered around him?

Oh, and voting should maybe be restricted to actual active participants. Not people IG recruited from other streams oblivious to this one to vote for him. That's another problem solved right there in the simplest way.

Therefore, we don't need a senate after all. But instead we definitely need just congress but the congress to have minimum of 20 seats.

I would argue against abolishing the senate, But the only argument I would even bring up is the fact I might try running for senate leader next election, but that's invalid and self-centered. But after hearing other ppl's arguments, I think I might agree with this. The senate's usefulness has pretty much been outlived. IncognitoGuy's ban and the reforming of Congress means the senate is no longer useful. And The Senate hasn't done its job of stream recruitment. They haven't really done much, and that's probably an exaggeration that says they're doing more than they actually are. But regardless, the senate is probably useless. Besides, I can run for Congress leader next time instead.
